If you decide to build your own shed from scratch' but don't know how' start by looking at shed plans. Sheds are simple to build by just following some detailed plans with illustrations. Plans will include a cut out material list. Study the cut out list' and prepare all the parts for assembly.
If you have children' make sure to add a lock. Adding a lock will keep your child safe. By locking up the shed you can prevent children from getting hurt with shears' saws or other sharp objects.
Knowing what you will be using this space for will help you determine the size you will need. Make sure it is big enough to store all your stuff. Measure everything you will put inside the shed' and it is always a good idea to build a little bigger.
Vinyl or Wooden Storage Shed - Which is a Better Material for an Outdoor Garden Storage Shed?Wood is easily more durable than vinyl when you're constructing garden sheds for storage purposes. With outdoor vinyl, you have to worry about the weather and how it's going to affect the items you've stored inside. Leaks, cracks and structural defects make it a hassle to maintain after 4-5 years of use. In comparison, a wooden shed lasts about 3 times longer than a vinyl storage shed with less than half the maintenance costs.
I would tend to lean toward the wooden type storage sheds that are available now. The pressure treated lumber used in most of these sheds, especially in the bases and floorings, will undoubtedly last for at least 30 years, probably more. And should any part of the shed get damaged from whatever source, the replacement pieces should be much easier to procure than those made of vinyl, which fades, really doesn't take paint well, and is somewhat tricky to work with. So, in my mind, no doubt, it's wood.
It's not what the shed is made of. It's how the produce is stored. Air circulation and other factors. Bins stored in. How its stack on each other. Just some of the factors.

Hello That is a great question. This is a question that I hear often as I work in the Storage Shed industry. It is a personal decision, However I will give you some information to help you in your decision making process. Wooden Outdoor Garden Storage Sheds are going to be more economical than a vinyl shed. All of our Wooden Sheds are made with T1-11 siding called Duratemp Siding which is an all plywood siding. You may want to look for a building which does not have an OSB Backing on the inside of the building because if it gets wet the OSB Particle Board soaks up water like a sponge which will slowly rote over time. The all Plywood Sheds shed may cost a few dollars more, but it is well worth it in my opinion. Vinyl Sheds are going to cost more but an advantage to vinyl is it will save you time and money over the lifetime of your building by not having to paint it. One disadvantage towards vinyl is it is not as strong as the wooden siding and can be damaged with a weedeater which I've accidentally done a time or two. If you go with a vinyl storage shed I would try to get it with a 1/2" plywood backing and stay away from the OSB if possible to give you a building that will last longer. I hope this helped you? I think it's just a matter of choice since the vinyl might last 18 years and doesn't need painting but will look scratched up in time. The wooden storage shed will need to be preserved with some coating or be painted. Vinyl doesn't breathe but wood does. Wood attracts termites so has to have some kind of creosote coating and it too starts to show wear. So it's up to you how much maintenance you want to put into it, how long you want it to look good, etc. All I know is that there is a solar paint on the market now and I don't know how that works on saving electricity but you might want to check it out. If it's a shed that you wish to have it cool to save seeds or you want electricity in there like a grow light or whatever you might want to check out the solar paint and solar blocks for its roof. In that case I'm thinking the wooden shed would hold the weight better.
